U.S. ARMY 10TH ARMY AIR AND MISSILE DEFENSE COMMAND PATCH (SSI)

Originally authorized on 3 January 1984 for the 10th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command Shoulder Insignia or unit patch has a pair of stylized blue wings that suggest sky and flight, as seen from an air-defense perspective—the red arrows denote accuracy in combating aerial threats. The gold area around the blue wing forms an X, the Roman numeral that indicates the unit’s numerical designation.

The 10th Army Air And Missile Defense Command can trace its roots back to World  War II and the 10th Antiaircraft Artillery Group, which took part in four campaigns in the Pacific Theater and in 1950 was one of several units that merged with components of the 10th Coast Artillery Regiment. As the HHG, 10th Antiaircraft Artillery Group, the unit was deployed to Korea and took part in ten named campaigns, earning two Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citations. It was designated an Air Defense Artillery Brigade in July, 1983, and then as an Army Air and Missile Command in 2011. The Command is currently headquartered in Kaiserlautern, Germany.
