Headquartered at Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg) as part of XVIII Airborne Corps, the 16th Military Police Brigade was originally constituted as the 16th Military Police Group on 23 March 1966. From 1981 to 2008, it was classified as an Airborne unit and personnel serving in it were authorized to wear the Airborne tab over Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, as well wear an organizational flash and background trimming (oval) for any Parachutist or Air Assault badges. The Brigade’s Airborne status was rescinded in October 2008.
We offer two basic types of Shoulder Sleeve Insignia for the 16th Military Police Brigade. The color patch was designed for wear the discontinued Class A Army Green Service uniform (its analog on the Army Service/Dress uniform is the Combat Service ID Badge). Our “ACU patch” is worn on the Army Combat Uniform, Army Aircrew Combat Uniform, and other utility uniforms manufactured with either the Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) or Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP).
