The 220th Military Police Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia was originally approved on 24 July 1972. Rendered solely in green and yellow, branch colors of the Military Police, the insignia features four ancient weapons called pikes that are configured in an interlacing position to symbolize protection and strength within and under the law. Also, the pikes are presented two by two within the annulet (circle), thus recalling the unit’s numerical designation of “220.” The annulet is also an allusion to the unit’s speed and mobility at carrying out its mission.
Assigned to the U.S. Army Reserve, the 220th Military Police Brigade is headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland, with its Headquarters and Headquarters Company exercising command and control over two other Reserve units, the 336th and 400th Military Police Battalions.
