The 158th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch, is identical to the one that was worn by the 153rd Field Artillery Brigade except it has a blue field (for Infantry) instead of a scarlet one (Artillery). The similarity is because both units' lineages track to the 258th Infantry Brigade in 1966, which in turn can point to the Cannon Company, 158th Infantry, which was activated in the Canal Zone one year to the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. This insignia was first approved for the 258th Infantry Brigade on 20 March 1966; the 153rd Field Artillery insignia was not approved until 1979.
On 1 September 2010, this insignia was approved effective for the 158th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (MEB). Headquartered at Papago Park Military Reservation, the 158th MEB is a mission-tailored force whose objective is to assure mobility, protection, and freedom of action while supporting State or Federal Forces.
