A chain is one of the oldest symbols of support and is especially fitting for a Logistics unit, whose purview involves many processes and steps in the supply chain. The design of this chain was meant to convey not only the notion of supply, but the numerical designation of the unit that: 3 links, a border forming a “0,” and 1 white stripe = 301.
Often referred to as a unit patch or shoulder patch, the301st Support Group Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) was originally approved for the 301st Logistical Command on 21 March 1952. It was redesignated for the 301st Support Brigade in September 1968, but was cancelled on 30 August 1972. It was reinstated and redesignated for the 301st Support Group on 25 February 1999.
