A subordinate unit of the 351st Civil Affairs Command, the 364th Civil Affairs Brigade is an Army Reserve unit headquartered at Camp Withycombe in Clackamas, Oregon. The Brigade’s Civil Affairs battalions—the 405th, 440th, 445th and 448th—are stationed in Utah, Colorado, California, and Washington, respectively. Since deploying in support of the first Gulf War, the Brigade has served in Bangladesh (Operation Sea Angel), Haiti (Operation Maintain Democracy), Bosnia (Task Force Eagle) and Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom).
The 364th Civil Affairs Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, also called a unit patch, was approved on 21 December 1976. Purple and white are the predominant colors in the color version of the insignia (which is used for the Combat Service ID Badge, or CSIB) to reflect the unit’s status and mission as a Civil Affairs organization. A green arrow represents the evergreen fir tree, a tree commonly seen in the forests of Oregon, the unit’s home state.
