Oriental blue, the branch color of Military Intelligence, is juxtaposed with silver on the 378th Military Intelligence Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia to suggest the night/day capabilities of the unit and its constant preparedness. A griffin, the embodiment of vigilance and attention to detail, is superimposed on a scroll, which alludes to the organization’s linquistic mission, a concept reinforced by the unit motto “Translates To Victory.” Also referred to as a unit crest or DUI, the 378th Military Intelligence Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 19 August 1997.
Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
