The 3rd Sustainment Command Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, also referred to as a unit patch or combat patch depending upon where it is worn, was approved for wear in 1952 while the organization was still designated as the 3rd Logistical Command and stationed in Korea. By the time of the signing of the armistice, the Command had taken part in eight campaigns and had been honored with two Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citations.
A trio of arrowheads on a white disc inside a red circle symbolizes the flow of combat support materiel and resources from the Command to all units in its area of responsibility as it fulfills its mission, embodied in the Command’s motto “Sustaining the Line.”
Since it received its current designation in 2007, the 3rd Sustainment Command has been awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation three times. The first was for its third deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Freedom; the second was for its service as Joint Sustainment Command-Afghanistan between 2012 and 2013; and the third was for support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 3 April 2014 to 3 December 2014.
