With a motto of “Build To Serve,” the 412th Theater Engineer Command an Army Reserve unit that provides theater-level engineer support by serving as the senior Engineer headquarters for a Combatant Commander+, providing mission command of attached and assigned units under the Army Service. Component Command to ensure mobility, logistics, protection, and necessary infrastructure development. The Command is headquartered in Vicksburg, Mississippi and falls under the operational control of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers when not mobilized.
The 412th Theater Engineer Command Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch, was approved on 8 November 1967 for the 412th Engineer Brigade; it was redesignated for the 412th Engineer Command on 5 February 1968. The blue swath in the middle of the insignia denotes the Mississippi Valley, near the unit's home area, while the crenellated bars associated with embattlements recall the Engineer's castle on the Corps of Engineers branch insignia; it alludes to bridges and other construction for which the Corps of Engineers is responsible.
