The 415th Chemical Brigade is an Army Reserve Unit headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina. Its motto, “CHEMISM,” means chemical force or action, and for the Brigade it means a dedication to the notion of being ready to be whatever force or action is necessary for the national defense. It can have up to six battalions assigned to it at one time, primarily Chemical but at times one or two Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) units as well.
The 415th Chemical Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch, was approved on 16 March 1988. The colored version of the patch It features the Chemical Corps’ branch colors of cobalt blue in the insignia border and golden yellow on insignia field and outer edge. On the field is a rampant dragon, an image frequently used in Chemical Corps’ insignia that signifies fire and chemical destruction. Three red barbs on the dragon’s tail symbolize three of the threats in which the Brigade specializes: Chemical, Biological, and Nuclear warfare.
