The Unit Patch for the 63rd Aviation Brigade depicts the unit’s location and operation. The Pegasus alludes to the aviation mission as well as to Kentucky, the horse capital of the world. An arched chief denotes the horizon and the unit’s determination to finish its missions. An arrowhead pointing up with a star superimposed upon it signifies readiness and constancy and a direction to a higher standard, while the stars aligned in a row of six and a row of three is a reference to the unit's numerical designation.
The 63rd Aviation Brigade is headquartered in Frankfort, Kentucky and are elements of the Kentucky Army National Guard. Some of the unit’s elements are part of the New York Army National Guard. It was founded in September of 1986 as a brigade of the 35th Infantry Division, then in September of 1995 it was reorganized and redisgnated as the 63rd Aviation Group independent of the 35th Infantry Division. Then in 2007, the unit was again redesignated as the 63rd Theater Aviation Brigade.
