The 6th Cavalry Brigade was inactivated in June 2005 and reflagged as the 2nd Multifunctional Aviation Brigade, a designation soon switched to Combat Aviation Brigade when the unit was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division. Its colors were cased at the inactivation ceremony along with five campaign streamers (Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe) the Brigade had earned while designated the 6th Armored Group during World War II.
In the colored version of 6th Cavalry Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia worn on the now-discontinued Class A Green Army Service uniform, a diagonal divides the shield into red and white fields; these were the colors of guidons of old cavalry units. Crossed sabers were the branch insignia for the Cavalry (still used by a select few Cavalry units).
Customers who purchased this 6th Cavalry Brigade unit patch also expressed interest the
Brigade’s Unit Crest (DUI).
