HOOK AND LOOP CLOSURE SET

This hook-and-loop closure set contains a pair of nylon web straps with hook fasteners on one end and loops on the other. Both the hook and loop sections measure two square inches, while the nylon web strap is two inches wide and eight-and-a-quarter inches long.

Known today by the trade name Velcro, the first hook-and-loop closure system was conceived  Swiss engineer Georges de Mestral, who patented his system in 1955. The name Velcro is a portmanteau of the French words “velours” (velvet) and “crochet” (hook).
