The Air Traffic Services Command unit patch, or Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, was approved on 31 October 2003. Its ultramarine blue and golden orange tones are associated with Aviation assets, the types of units that Air Traffic Services Command works with daily.
The spearhead shape of the insignia is adapted from the Special Operations Command insignia and refers to the service’s area of tactical missions; it also suggest the forward thrust motion of Army Aviation assets.
In the center of the insignia is a phoenix, the mythological bird that arises anew after being consumed by flames which symbolizes the “rebirth” of Air Traffic Services into the Command. Above the phoenix is a terrestrial globe that alludes to the worldwide scope of the missions undertaken by Air Traffic Services and the Commands sphere of influence. A lightning flash across the globe is an emblem of Army readiness and suggests the swift striking speed of the Command’s Signal Corps background.
