Approved for the 100th Division (Training) on 26 July 1989, the 100th Training Division Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI), or unit crest, is highlighted by a blossomed century plant, simultaneously recalling the numerical designation and nickname of the Division. A gold fleur-de-lis is a reference to the Presidential Unit Citation earned by some of the Division’s component units during its combat service from November 1944 to May 1945 in France. Green is the color growth and reflects the healthy expansion of the Division’s training programs, while the white powder horn and blue are a nod to the Division’s home region of the bluegrass state of Kentucky. The unit motto, “Soldiers Of The Century,” is inscribed on a gold scroll in black letters denoting solidarity; gold represents excellence of achievement.
The unit crest of the 100th Division Training Division Distinctive was originally authorized for the 100th Division (Training) on 25 March 1968. It was amended to alter the motto on 26 July 1989 and then redesignated for the 100th Training Division with an effective date of 16 September 2009; this date is an amendment to remedy the originally incorrect effective date for the most redesignation.
Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦
