U.S. ARMY 110TH MEDICAL BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The 110th Medical Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved while the unit was still designated as the 110th Medical Regiment. It consists of two distinct elements, a shield and a scroll, and is largely crafted in the Army Medical Department colors of maroon and white. FIRMO ET TUEOR, the unit motto, is Latin for “I Strengthen And I Protect” and forms the base of the insignia.

The shield portion is charged with several images: a grizzly bear, a cactus, a sunflower, fleurs-de-li, and a rainbow. The grizzly bear represents the states of Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska, the three states which the unit was allotted to in the National Guard. The sunflower is the official state flower of Kansas, but is also common throughout all three states. A cactus between the two commemorates the Mexican border duty that had been performed by some of the units prior to being chosen to organize the Regiment in 1923. Three fleur-de-lis stand for three World War I campaigns in which the predecessor units fought, and the Rainbow is from the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia of the 42nd Division, the unit in which 117th Sanitary Train—a founding unit of the 110th Medical Regiment—served during World War I.

The unit would go on to be redesignated as the 110th Multifunctional Medical Battalion and was assigned to the 92nd Troop Command of the Nebraska Army National Guard when it was deactivated on 14 December 2021 during a ceremony held at the Army Aviation Support Facility No.1 in Lincolon, Nebraska.
