The 110th Military Intelligence Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, also known as a unit crest or simply DUI for short, was approved on 12 September 1988 with a design that focuses heavily on the Battalion’s association with the 10th Mountain Division. Oriental blue, the primary branch color of Military Intelligence, is used for the background of the shield portion of the insignia, with gold appearing throughout as a sign of excellence and high achievement. A chevron at the bottom of the shield connotes strength and support, but its similarity to a mountain also invokes the organization’s affiliation with the 10th Mountain Division. Atop the chevron are two griffins, epitomes of watchfulness and vigilance that reinforce the message of the unit motto, “Sentinels Of The Summit.”
Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The 110th Military Intelligence Battalion was originally formed as four provisional Military Intelligence Companies that were attached to the 10 Support Command on 28 June 1988. On 13 December 1988, the Battalion was activated as a separate battalion of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry). Throughout the 1990s, the Battalion was deployed on a fairly regular basis in support overseas humanitarian missions such as Operations Restore Hope and Continue Hope (Somalia), Operation Uphold Democracy (Haiti), and Operation Joint Guard/Joint Endeavor (Bosnia), as well as for domestic relief efforts following Hurricane Andrew. After the launch of the War on Terrorism, the Battalion was the recipient of a Meritorious Unit commendation for its service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom while attached to the 173rd Airborne Division in 2003-2004.
The 110th Military Intelligence Battalion was inactivated on 13 September 2004.
