Originally constituted in the Regular Army as the 125th Finance Company, on 5 February 1972, The 125th Financial Management Support Unit has been assigned to the 25th Infantry Division since it was originally constituted in the Regular Army as the 125th Finance Company. As of 2020, it is currently a part of the Division’s Special Troops Battalion, 25th Sustainment Brigade and is based at Schofield Barracks in Oahu, Hawaii.
First approved on 3 May 1994, this Distinctive Unit Insignia—a device referred to as a DUI or unit crest—was originally authorized for the 125th Finance Battalion; in addition to its original designation as a Finance Company, the organization had also been previously designated as the 125th Area Finance Support Center and the 125th Finance Support Unit.) In October 2007, however, the insignia was cancelled because the Battalion was redesignated as a Company, and information on if and when the insignia was reinstated and redesignated for the 125th Financial Management Support Unit is not easily located through publicly available resources.
Featuring the unit motto “Pacific Paymasters” that reflects the units origins at Schofield Barracks on the island of Oahu, the 125th Financial Management Support Unit Distinctive Unit Insignia incorporates the Finance Corps’ branch colors of golden yellow and silver gray for a shield (escutcheon) in the center of the insignia, with a red lightning bolt denoting not only the unit’s speed in mission execution, but also its association with the 25th Division, which uses a similar image alongside its nickname of “Tropic Lightning.”
