The 151st Cavalry Regiment Distinctive Unit Insignia—also called a unit crest or a DUI—was originally approved on 6 November 1995. Both the horse and the color yellow (gold) denote the organization’s status as a Cavalry unit, with the yellow area forming a chevron that suggests forward movement—the type that can “Lead The Way,” as the motto proclaims.
In the chief (upper third), a polestar designed like a compass rose highlights the unit’s leadership and direction while simultaneously alluding to the North Star to memorialize service in the Aleutians during World War II by an ancestor unit. The contrast between black and white symbolizes the night-and-day cycle and the 24/7, around-the-clock military capabilities the organization delivers.
Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Constituted on 2 November 1967 and allotted to the Arkansas Army National Guard as the 151st Cavalry, a parent regiment in the Combat Arms Regimental System, the 151st Cavalry Regiment was organized the following month (1 December) to consist of Troop E, an element of the 39th Infantry Brigade. It underwent no changes until September 2005, when Troop E was deactivated and 1st Squadron was organized, with its Headquarters established at Warren from the former HHC, 3rd Battalion, 153rd Infantry Regiment. 1st Squadron, 151st Cavalry Regiment was organized as an RSTA (Reconnaissance, Surveillance, Target Acquisition) Squadron, and like Troop E was an element of the 39th Infantry Brigade, now designated as an Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
1st Squadron, 151st Cavalry Regiment was deactivated in September 2015. It was replaced in the 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team by the 1st Squadron, 134th Cavalry Regiment, Nebraska Army National Guard.
