U.S. ARMY 16TH MILITARY POLICE BRIGADE UNIT CREST (DUI)

The Unit Crest (also called a Distinctive Unit Insignia or DUI) of the 16th Military Police Brigade highlights its core mission: maintaining law and order wherever it has been deployed. Like the brigade’s CSIB, the Unit Crest employs green and gold, colors associated with the Military Police Corps. A white sword, along with the red and yellow seen in the design, are used in memory of the unit’s service in Vietnam. The oak leaves buttressing the motto “Combat Support” are symbols of strength and also stand for the state tree of Maryland where the brigade was activated in 1966.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
