Better known as a “unit crest” or by the shorthand “DUI,” the Distinctive Unit Insignia of the 207th Support Group was approved on 16 September 2006 and is now worn by personnel in the 207th Regional Support Group. The insignia's primary three colors—red, white, and blue—are of course recognized as our national colors, with red standing for valor and courage, white for integrity, and blue for loyalty; blue is also the color of the South Carolina flag, the unit’s home state that is also alluded to in the insignia with the inclusion of palmetto branches (its nickname is the “Palmetto State”). A torch in the center of the insignia has flames that are adapted from those found on the torch of the Statue of Liberty and which highlight freedom and leadership. A lightning bolt is a symbol of quick response to those in need, the classical column embodies support, and the crossed swords are symbols of military preparedness, might, and the Group’s support mission. “In Support Of Freedom” is the Regimental motto—and ultimate mission.
Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. As of Autumn 2023, the 207th Regional Support Group is allotted to the U.S. Army Reserve and is assigned to the 143rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), 377th Theater Sustainment Command. It is headquartered at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and consists of two Battalions, the 362nd Quartermaster Battalion and the 812th Transportation Corps Battalion.
