Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e),
"Beret" and
"Garrison Cap," respectively.

The 25th Brigade Support Battalion can trace its roots back to the activation of the 325th Quartermaster Battalion at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii on 1 October 1941 and came under fire during the Japanese attack two months later. On November 1 1942 it was downsized to a company, given a new numerical designation (the 25th), and was organized as a truck company. The 25th Quartermaster Company served with the 25th Division in four World War II campaigns and was the recipient of a Meritorious Unit Commendation and a Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.
Still assigned to the 25th Division at the outbreak of the Korean War, the Company deployed to Korea and ended up serving in all ten of the campaigns. Again, its exceptional service was recognized with unit decorations, specifically two Meritorious Unit Commendations and two Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citations.
In 1963, the unit was again redesignated, this time transforming into the 25th Supply and Transport Battalion. Still assigned to the 25th Infantry Division, the Battalion participated in a dozen Vietnam War campaigns and was again the recipient of Meritorious Unit Commendations (three), two awards of the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and a Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor Medal. The unit would retain this designation until 16 April 1992 and its redesignation as the 25th Support Battalion; nine years later, it would become a separate brigade support battalion on 16 September 2002.
As the 25th Brigade Support Battalion (BSB), it was deployed to Iraq and took part in the Battle of Mosul, earning a Most Valorous Unit Award for its performance in this vital battle. It would be inactivated for a few months (June – December) in 2006 before its most recent reactivation on 16 December 2006 at Fort Wainwright, where it has been headquartered ever since. Its unit motto, “Without Delay,” needs no clarification, but the same cannot be said for its use of the Native-American word “OPAHEY" to describe its Soldiers.
As of Summer 2023, the 25th BSB is assigned to the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, U.S. Army Alaska.
