Now worn by the personnel of the 307th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, the 307th Support Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia—better known as a “unit crest” or a DUI—was approved for the 307th Airborne Medical Battalion on 21 December 1950 but was rescinded on 26 September 1958. Reinstated and authorized for the 307th Medical Battalion on 9 April 1965, it was subsequently redesignated for the 307th Support Battalion, with a revised description and symbolism, on 16 April 1994.
Maroon and silver are the only colors used for the Distinctive Unit Insignia of the 307th Brigade Support Battalion, reflecting the organization’s founding in the Army Medical Department. Three silver fleurs-de-li on the chief (upper third) denote three battle honors earned during World War I; six maroon fleurs-de-li reflect six World War II Campaigns. Not displayed is the unit motto, CURA ET INDUSTRIA (By Care And Industry).
Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

The 307th Brigade Support Battalion has seen considerable action since 2008, but especially during the period between 2007 and 2014. While the entire Battalion was awarded a Valorous Unit Award for service between January and August 2003, no fewer than four of the unit’s Companies have been individually selected for the same honor, with all but one for service in support Operation Enduring Freedom. And while the Battalion was tapped for a Meritorious Unit Commendation in 2010 for support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, two of its Companies were also honored with the award, one for Iraqi service and another for an Afghanistan deployment.
As of Autumn 2023, the 307th Brigade Support Battalion remains assigned tot he 82nd Airborne Division.
