U.S. ARMY 376TH PERSONNEL SERVICES BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

The 376th Personnel Services Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, more commonly referred to as a DUI or a “unit crest,” was originally approved for the 376th Personnel and Administration Battalion on 2 January 1976, which in turn was originally constituted in the Army of the United States on 8 January 1944 as the 376th Replacement Company. Active from 15 January 1944 to 28 June 1946, the Company took part in five campaigns in the European Theater, represented in this insignia by the five blue points. The five vertically oriented rectangular shapes are billets that represent strength and support. “Proud And Accurate” is the Battalion motto.

The Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

In May 1947, the 376th Replacement Company was redesignated as HQ and HQ Detachment, 376th Replacement Battalion and activated on the 27th of the month at St. Louis Missouri; it was simultaneously allotted to the Organized Reserves when it was given its new designation. It would undergo a quarter-century inactivation, from November 1950 at St. Louis, Missouri to August 1975 at Indianapolis, Indiana, when it was redesignated as the 376th Personnel and Administration Battalion.

After just three years, the Battalion was inactivated again at Indianapolis on 1 March 1978, but when it was reactivated on 16 September 1995 at Long Beach, California it would have a new designation: the 376th Personnel Services Battalion. The Battalion was ordered into active military service on 15 October 2004 and wasn’t released from it until 12 April 2006. During this period of service, the 376th Personnel Services Battalion as awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation for its superior service between 8 February and 5 November 2005, where provided essential personnel services and postal support to nearly 24,000 Soldiers in Task Force Liberty and over 9,000 in Task force Freedom.

On 16 September 2008, the Battalion was reorganized and redesignated as the 376th Personnel Services Company and relocated to Bell, California the following year. As of Summer 2023, it is designated as the 376th Personnel Company (Human Resources).
