The lion rampant on the 37th Field Artillery Regiment Distinctive Unit Insignia (also called a unit crest or DUI) is taken from the arms of Belgium and is a reference to the unit's actions during the Ardennes-Alsace campaign and at Elsenborn Ridge, the latter being cited in the Order of the Day of the Belgian Army. A pair of wavy bands symbolize the Rhine and Naktong Rivers and allude to the Regiment's service in the Rhineland and in Korea. The blue band has five waves, which denote the five World War II campaigns which the Regiment fought in. The dolphin is an emblem for Korea, a nation bordered by the sea on three sides; it especially refers to the Regiment's role in the breakout from the Pusan Perimeter in the fall of 1950. The unit motto, "On The Minute," is a reference to highly accurate artillery targeting, which is done in degrees and minutes. This insignia was approved on 17 November 1964.Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e),
"Beret" and
"Garrison Cap," respectively.

Constituted as the 37th Field Artillery in the National Army on 5 July 1918, the 37th Field Artillery Regiment saw no action during World War I and demobilized in February 2019. Reconstituted in 1933 and redesignated in October 1940 as the 37th Field Artillery Battalion, it was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division and took part in five World War II campaigns in the European Theater; it was awarded the Belgian Fourragere 1940 with two citations in the Order of the Day of the Belgian Army, one for the Ardennes and another for Elsenborn Crest (also called Elsenborn Ridge). During the Korean War, it would see action in all ten campaigns, and its outstanding service was recognized with an impressive three Presidential Unit Citations and two Republic of Korea Presidential Citations.
Although the unit’s campaign participation for War on Terrorism operations has not yet been determined, the service of both the Regiment’s 1st and 6th Battalions has been recognized with a total of three Meritorious Unit Commendations between them. Additionally, the Regiment’s non-combat performance has garnered it three Army Superior Unit Awards for the periods 1999–2000, 2002–2003, and March–December 2010.
As of Summer 2023, both units are serving in the 2nd Infantry Division, with the 1st Battalion assigned to the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team and the 6th Battalion serving in the 210th Field Artillery Brigade.
