Frequently called a unit crest or DUI for short, the Distinctive Unit Insignia of the 395th Finance Battalion was authorized on 16 July 1996 and was cancelled following the reorganization and redesignation of HQ and HQ Detachment, 395th Finance Battalion as the 395th Finance Company on 17 September 2008, with the cancellation order back-dated to be effective as of 16 September 2008.
Golden yellow and silver gray, branch colors of the Finance Corps, are counterchanged on the escutcheon (shield portion) of the insignia to create the image of four mountain peaks, a single gold peak set in front of three silver ones; together they allude to the four campaigns the unit took part in during World War II and also recall the Rocky Mountains in Idaho and Utah, homes for two of the unit’s home station. A black scroll stands for constancy, stability, and strength, while the gold text used for the unit motto “Pay With Pride” symbolizes excellence and high achievement. A bee is an emblem of industry and is the state symbol of Utah, while the gold disc upon which it is superimposed recalls monetary exchange and the unit’s primary mission.
Guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
