Also known as a unit crest or DUI, the Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia."Red, white, and blue used throughout the 407th Army Field Support Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia, or unit crest, are taken from the Army Materiel Command colors. A golden horseshoe engraved with laurel leaves symbolizes the American West and the longstanding tradition of support to Soldiers across the Western frontier, with the laurel leaves representing victory. Each laurel branch has fifteen leaves—the number of states supported by the Brigade. A blue star at the top stands for the Brigade’s HQ in the Lone Star State of Texas as well as the North Star used for guidance; a sword pointed at the star reflects the Brigade never losing sight of its mission. “SUSCIPIO MILITIS” is Latin for “Support The Soldiers.”
