Approved 19 October 1953, the 41st Signal Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia (also "unit crest" or DUI) is crafted in the Signal Corps branch colors of orange and white (silver), with the most prominent feature being an orange fess (horizontal band) in the center that is charged with a black circle in its center and lighting flashes on either side.
The fess crossing the field of the insignia simulates a wire or cable, with the black circle representing the soft iron diaphragm found in telephone equipment (or the sounding board for all types of signal apparaturs) at the time. Lightning flashes are allusion to the currents that cause the diaphragm to vibrate, the method by which sound is transmitted. The fleur-de-lis denotes the organization’s service in France during World War II. Unlike most DUIs, the Battalion’s unit motto—PAX NOSTRA FINIS, Latin for “Peace Is Our Goal”—is not displayed on its unit crest.Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Stationed in Korea as part of the 1st Signal Brigade at the time of this writing (Summer 2023), the 41st Signal Battalion was originally constituted as the 41st Signal Construction Battalion and activated on 25 January 1943 at Camp Forrest, Tennessee. During World War II, it took part in five campaigns in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater before being reorganized and redesignated as the 41st Signal Light Construction Battalion on 14 May 1945. It was inactivated from December 1945 to 20 October 1950, when it was redesignated as the 41st Signal Construction Battalion and allotted to the Regular Army and activated the following November 13.
It received its current designation three years later on 29 October 1953, and as the 41st Signal Battalion it would take part in an amazing 15 campaigns in the Vietnam War, earning two Meritorious Unit Commendations in the process. Briefly inactivated after returning to the U.S. from Vietnam, its HQ and HQ Company was redesignated as HQ and HQ Detachment, 41st Signal Battalion on 1 July 1974 and it was activated in Korea. In 2007, the Battalion’s non-wartime service was recognized with an Army Superior Unit Award.
