The 4th Infantry Division Distinctive Unit Insignia, or unit crest, borrows heavily from the design found on its CSIB (Combat Service ID Badge) and Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI), or unit patch. It features a single leaf of an ivy plant, which is a symbol of fidelity and tenacity. These themes are mirrored in the unit motto, "Steadfast and Loyal," emblazoned on the scroll encircling the bottom hemisphere of the insignia.

In the mid-2000s, the 4th Infantry Division was reorganized in line with the Army’s vision of making modular combat brigades the primary deployable unit of maneuver. The brigades are “modular” in that a brigade of a particular type—an Infantry Brigade Combat Team, for instance—from one organization will be the same as the equivalent type serving with another organization.
As of Autumn 2023, the 4th Infantry Division comprises (in addition to its HQ and HQ Battalion) the 1st and 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Teams, the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division Artillery, the 4th Sustainment Brigade, and a READY Company (Reception and Integration). Although the Division earned the unofficial "Iron Horse" nickname a while back for its ability to deploy quickly and deliver substantial firepower, the new organizational system means it (or its subordinate units) can enter into kinetic action faster than ever.Related Items
