U.S. ARMY PUBLIC SERVICE COMMENDATION LAPEL PIN

The United States Army Public Service Commendation lapel button is a miniature replica of the award of the same name that is worn as a ribbon or medal or U.S. Army uniforms. It is designed for wear only on civilian clothing, with men wearing the button on their left lapel and women wearing it in a similar location on their clothing.

Originally titled the Commander’s Award for Public Service, the Public Service Commendation Medal was given its current designation in 2014 in an effort to more closely link it to its equivalent Army award, i.e., the Army Commendation Medal. The medal may be awarded by any Army commander at the rank of Colonel and higher, by a commander who has the authority to convene a court-martial, and principal officials serving at staff agencies at Department of the Army Headquarters.

The Public Service Commendation Medal is issued to recognize service or achievements that have significantly contributed to the mission of a command or staff agency or to any Army activity.
