U.S. ARMY 67TH MANEUVER ENHANCEMENT BRIGADE UNIT CREST (DUI)

Now looking back on the 100th anniversary of its organization in the Nebraska National Guard on 6 July 1921, the 67th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade spent the first quarter-century of its service life as an Infantry unit (although with varying designations). Between 1946 and 1959, it was designated as a Tank Battalion, then from 1959 to 2003 served as an Infantry unit again.

In the past sixteen years, however, it has taken on a Support role, first as the 67th Support Group from 2003 to 2008 and then as the 67th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade from 2008 to 2016, the year it was given its current designation. During that time, its only official campaign credits came in World War II, when it was designated as the 3rd Battalion, 134th Infantry: it fought in five European Theater campaigns and was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation for fighting at the Battle of the Bulge and a French Croix de Guerre with Palm for its role in the breakout at St. Lo following the D-Day landings.

Since the launch of the War on Terrorism, it has been called into active Federal Service twice and  was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation for its 2010-2011 deployment. Officially nicknamed the Nebraska Brigade, the unit is also known as the Pike Brigade in tribute to the byl, a pike-like weapon, seen on its Distinctive Unit Insignia and its unit patch (links below). It is headquartered at Lincoln, Nebraska.

Often called a unit crest or referred to by the initialism DUI, the Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam (DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however).

For Enlisted personnel, the insignia is centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the insignia by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap" respectively.
