U.S. ARMY 725TH SUPPORT BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, the Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia."

The 725th Brigade Support Battalion was originally constituted on 26 August 1941 in the Army of the United States as the Maintenance Platoon, HQ Company, 325th Quartermaster Battalion, an element of the 25th Infantry Division. Following activation at Schofield Barracks on 1 October 1941, the Platoon was reorganized and redesignated as the Ordnance Maintenance Platoon, HQ Company, 325th Quartermaster Battalion on 1 August 1942, a process repeated on 1 November 1942 when it became the 7825th Ordnance Light Maintenance Company and remained assigned to the 25th Infantry Division.

During World War II, the Battalion would fight in four World War II campaigns in the Pacific Theater, the start of an extensive history of combat deployment that went on include all ten campaigns of the Korean War, a dozen campaigns in Vietnam, and a to-be-determined number of campaigns in the War on Terrorism. The Battalion became a Maintenance unit in 1963 and a Support Battalion in April 1992; it was redesignated as a Brigade Support Battalion in 2006.

The Battalion’s Military Honors include six Meritorious Unit Commendations, a Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, two Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citations, two Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and a Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor Medal First Class. In addition, Companies B through G have each been awarded individual military honors that when combined add up to ten Valorous Unit Awards, four Meritorious Unit Commendations, a Republic of Vietnam Cross Gallantry with Palm, and a Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor Medal, First Class.
