U.S. ARMY 91ST MILITARY POLICE BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

The 91st Military Police Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 6 September 1951. In July 1963 it was retained for the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 91st Military Police Battalion, and was amended on 16 May 2005 to update the description. Green and yellow (gold) of the shield are the official branch colors of Military Police units. A heraldic rudder symbolizes the basic functions of control and guidance the organization performs. “Honor Above All,” the unit motto, emphasizes the importance of ethical performance of duties by those vested with the power and responsibility of law enforcement.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

Constituted in the waning days of World War II, the 91st Military Police Battalion was activated on 13 June 1945 in France, but within four month it was inactivated at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana on 14 October 1945. On 20 September 1950, it was activated overseas again, this time in Korea where it would go on to take part in nine of the ten campaigns of the Korean War and was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation and two Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citations for its superior service. It remained in Korea for two years following the ceasefire until its inactivation on 24 June 1955.

The Battalion was reactivated on 1 August 1962 at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas and was subsequently inactivated there on 25 March 1964. This last period of inactivation lasted over forty years, ending on 17 October 2005 with reactivation at Fort Drum, New York. Since then, the Battalion has deployed to the Middle East on several occasions, earning credit for participating in four campaigns in the War on Terrorism (two in Afghanistan and two in Iraq); additional campaign credits are yet to be determined. As of 2019, the 91st Military Police Battalion is stationed at Fort Drum as part of the 10th Mountain Division.
