Our subdued cloth rank insignia for Chief Warrant Officers 2 (CW2) features the rank insignia of two black squares embroidered on a dark gray background sewn onto a fabric swatch manufactured with a camouflage pattern. In 2004, the Army introduced subdued rank insignia featuring a hook-and-loop fastener system designed to be quickly attached to the Army Combat Uniform (ACU) and other Utility uniforms, leading to the nickname “ACU Rank.”
We offer three types of subdued cloth CW2 rank insignia, each designed to accommodate a particular uniform or uniform component and available in either the Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) or Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP).
- Rank With Velcro insignia is for wear on the Army Combat Uniform, Army Aircrew Combat Uniform, Fire Resistant Environmental Ensemble, and other Utility uniforms manufactured with hook-and-loop pads.
- Cap Rank insignia is for wear on the Patrol Cap, Sun Hat (“boonie”), and camouflage cover of the helmet. It has no Velcro backing and must be sewn on.
- “GorTex Loop” is our nickname for the Gore-Tex® parka that is part of the Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System. Resembling a small patch, this insignia is designed to slide over the tab found on the front of the parka.
