Our subdued cloth grade insignia for Lieutenant Generals features the rank insignia of three stars embroidered in black on a cloth background made up of the Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) used on the first generation of Army Combat Uniforms (ACU) introduced in 2004. It was at this time that the Army adopted hook-and-loop fastener systems, more well-known by the trade name Velcro, to attach insignia on the ACU and other Utility uniforms and uniform components, leading many Soldiers to casually refer to these Velcro-backed, subdued grade insignia as “ACU ranks” or “ACU insignia.”
Use the "Style" and "Pattern" selection boxes to the right to specify the type of insignia you need.
STYLE
Rank With Velcro: Worn on ACU/Utility uniforms, attached with Velcro backing.
Cap Rank: Worn on Patrol Cap, Sun Hat (boonie), or helmet camouflage cover. May substitute subdued pin-on metal insignia in place of this item.
GorTex: Insignia tab with opening at bottom so it can slide over the tab found on front of the Gore-Tex® parka.
PATTERN
Select the camouflage type, OCP or UCP, that matches the uniform on which the insignia will be placed before selecting insignia. Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) is the current camouflage pattern used for the Army Combat Uniform (ACU), the Army Aircrew Combat Uniform (A2CU), and other uniforms. Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) was introduced in 2004 and was authorized for wear on the same uniforms until 1 October 2019. Note: UCP insignias are not authorized for wear by Soldiers currently serving in the Regular Army, Army Reserve, or National Guard.
