U.S. ARMY FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SCHOOL UNIT CREST (DUI)

Located in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, the U.S. Army Financial Management School trains both military and civilian personnel in the principles and execution of financial management programs that support America's Armed Forces. Accounting, financial analysis, accounts payable/receivable, disbursement, and auditing are just some of the fields of study in this highly complex discipline. Soldiers and Officers in the Financial Management career field are required to meet the same minimum physical training and testing standards as Army personnel in other fields.

The U.S. Army Financial Management School Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI), more commonly referred to as a “unit crest,” was originally approved on 11 April 1940. A silver-gray tone used for the quill pen, sheathed sword, and burning torch is the Finance Corps primary branch color, with each object representing a specific facet or aspect of Financial Management training: the torch stands for knowledge, the quill pen for secretarial and accounting activities, and the sword in a sheath denotes the practitioners' status as noncombatants. A gold diamond shape above the shield of the insignia is the branch insignia of the Finance Corps. "Learn To Do By Doing" is the school motto.

The Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. Current regulations do not permit the DUI to be worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
