All Junior Enlisted Soldiers (Specialists and below) wear nonsubdued pin-on grade insignia on both collars of the ASU shirt, the Black All-Weather Coat, and the Black Windbreaker, with the insignia positioned one inch from the collar point and oriented so that its centerline bisects the collar points (see
Figure 21–58. DA PAM 670-1); it is worn in the same fashion on both collars of the Medical Assistant Smock. On the Garrison Culinary Smock, it is centered 1/4-inch above the nameplate, and on the Heritage Green Windbreaker it is worn centered on the shoulder loops.
Private Second Class subdued pin-on (black) grade insignia is worn centered both horizontally and vertically on the front of the Patrol Cap and Sun Hat (boonie). It is also authorized for wear on the helmet liner and helmet camouflage cover.
