U.S. ARMY NATIONAL GUARD OPERATIONAL SUPPORT AIRLIFT COMMAND UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. Current regulations do not permit the DUI to be worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The U.S. Army National Guard Operational Support Airlift Command Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI), better known as a “unit crest,” was originally approved on 1 October 1992 for the U.S. Army Operational Support Airlift Command. It was redesignated for the Army National Guard Operational Support Airlift Command on 1 September 1994.

“Wartime Readiness,” displayed on the DUI, is both the motto of the organization and its definition: Operational Support Airlift Command (OSACOM) keeps between twenty and thirty percent of its force deployed around the globe in support of fixed-wing requirements set forth by the Army and the Department of Defense. Between 2002 and 2014, over 600,000 flight hours were carried out the OSACOM’s fixed-wing aircrews, with mission locations ranging from the Horn of Africa and South America to Afghanistan and Iraq.

Ultramarine blue, primary color of the Aviation branch, serves as the backdrop for a five-pointed star rendered in our national colors of red, white, and blue, with its center forming a pentagon as an allusion to the Command’s location within the National Capital Region. The golden yellow wings denote the Aviation mission of the organization.

OSACOM is the operational headquarters of the Operational Support Airlift Agency (OSAA), a field operating agency of the Director, Army National Guard based at Davison Army Airfield, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. In October 2015, both OSAA and OSACOM were assigned to the United States Army Air Operations Group.
