There are several variations in the Army's Male General Blue Mess uniform that differentiate it from the version worn by Enlisted personnel and all lower-ranked Officers in several ways. One of the most noticeable differences is the trousers color—dark-blue instead of the light-blue worn by lower ranks. Another variation is also found on the trousers, with Generals’ pant legs being decorated with a pair of half-inch gold braids spaced a half-inch apart; all others wear a single 1/5” braid on the trousers. And the General’s Blue Mess uniform is the only one with blue-black velvet braid adorned with golden oak leaves at the end of the sleeve.
