Not having a replacement button for your Mess Dress or Service Uniform trousers may not lead to the loss of a war like in the famous “for want of a nail” proverb (although under the wrong conditions it might not be a happy experience). On the other hand, this is one instance where a little peace of mind can be yours for under three bucks (or for $5 if you buy a set of each size button).

The 22-ligne buttons (.55-inch in diameter) are for the front button on Service Uniform and Mess Dress trousers, while the 27-ligne (.675-inch) are attached to the inside waistband of the Mess Dress trousers and are used to attach suspenders.
