The Coast Guard Auxiliary mandates the wear of sew-on embroidered collar insignia on the Operational Dress Uniform (ODU) and allows it as an option for the Auxiliary Jump suit. When determining insignia placement, measurements are done from the insignia itself and not the patch upon which it is embroidered.
All embroidered collar insignia is centered on an imaginary line perfectly bisecting the angle of the collar, with the bottom of the insignia 1-1/8 inches from the collar point. For the Member insignia consisting of crossed anchors and the Coast Guard Auxiliary shield, this would result in the devices being tilted about 40 to 45 inboard in order to be centered on the bisecting line, i.e., the device on the viewer’s right would be tilted left and vice-versa.
The ODU is the primary general purpose, everyday Coast Guard Auxiliary uniform, worn throughout the year as a field utility and watchstanding uniform and in situations that do not require dress uniforms. Jump suits are worn on while on patrols and while carrying out vehicle safety checks.
