A gold fouled anchor measuring 15/16” from the top of the anchor ring to the fouling at the bottom surmounted with a silver Coast Guard shield crowned with a single star with one ray pointing up serves as the insignia of grade for Coast Guard Senior Chief Petty Offices.
Worn on the collars of the Light-Blue Shirt (short- and long-sleeve), Winter Dress Blue Shirt, Windbreaker and Trench Coat, the insignia is also issued in a subdued black metal version that Senior Commanders may prescribe for wear during wartime or emergencies when wearing the standard version could be hazardous.
The Senior CPO collar device is worn in the same manner on both shirt and coat collars. It is placed chevrons pointing down and centered between the bottom and top edges of the collar, then positioned so that its center is one inch from and parallel to the collar’s leading edge.
