When wearing the Coast Guard blue necktie, male and female Guardsmen are authorized to wear tie tacks or tie clasps featuring replicas of insignia worn by Officers, CPOs, and Enlisted personnel.
Designed for junior enlisted Coast Guard personnel (E-1 to E-3) and junior Noncommissioned Offices (E-4 to E-6), this tack/clasp sports a miniature version the Coast Guard medallion worn by those rates on as a device on the Combination Cap. (The Coast Guard medallion also serves as the Garrison Gap headgear insignia for E-1 to E-3 personnel.)
Tie tacks and clasps are placed so they align with the middle of the shirt pocket; they will not be visible when properly placed and wearing the Service Dress Blue coat.
