A major subordinate command of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, the U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command was established on 2 October 1990 through the merger of the U.S. Army Logistics Center and the U.S. Army Soldier Support Center. The Command is located in Virginia at Fort Gregg-Adams (formerly named Fort Lee), home of the Logistics Center and currently the site of the Army’s Logistics University.
The Distinctive Unit Insignia of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command and Fort Lee features a blue star with interlocking elements used to form the star’s arms, creating a pentagon in the center of the insignia. The star signifies the new unit that has been created through the combination of diverse elements that have been brought together so that their activities and functions fall under the command and control of one authority; it also represents the United States of America.
A gold ring over the star is a symbol of cooperation and unity, while the six rays emanating upward represents achievement and expected growth in the future. Blue is the color of constancy and devotion (“true blue”); the white between the star’s arms denotes integrity and, combined with the blue and red, symbolizes the United States. (The Army has made no announcement regarding redesignation of the insignia to reflect the name change from Fort Lee to Fort Gregg-Adams.)
"Support Starts Here" is the organization's motto.
This Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved with an effective authorization date of 15 March 1991.
