The Male Officer Summer White Service Uniform, commonly referred to as simply “Summer White,” is worn in the Summer when performing office duties, watchstanding, while on liberty, and for business ashore when it is prescribed as the Uniform of the Day. It consists of a white, short-sleeved button-up shirt worn with an open collar, white trousers, white belt with gold buckle, and white dress shoes.
Our Summer White short-sleeved shirt and trousers for male officers are both manufactured with Certified Navy Twill, meeting the requirement in Article 3501.53 of NAVPERS 15665I that the two garments must be made from the same fabric. A white Combination Cap is the only headgear authorized for wear with the Summer White uniform. Rank insignia and branch of service are displayed on hard Shoulder Boards attached to the shoulder loops of the male short-sleeved shirt (the female version comes with epaulettes).
