The U.S. Army Information Systems Engineering Command Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch, was approved on 21 July 1989. It features a gridlined demi-globe with an upright sword bookended by two lightning bolts above it. The globe is an allusion to the worldwide extent of the Command’s operations and missions, while the pair of lightning bolts simultaneously symbolize the speed and precision of the Command’s operations and refer to the Command’s two predecessors, the Army Material Command and Combat Development Command.
An upright black sword is an image that evokes vigilance and steadfast readiness. It also reinforces the link between the Command and the military forces that that it helps stay prepared and informed of the factors that can affect the battle space. This concept is further emphasized in the unit motto, “Information For Decision,” a motto held by precursor organizations Systems Engineer Command and Information Systems Software Support Command.
The U.S. Army Information Systems Engineering Command (USAISEC) is responsible for the provision of Information Technology (IT) services and associated support at Army outposts, camps, stations, and deployed forces, as well as ensuring interconnectivity between them. Delivery of cyber engineering, implementation, integration, evaluation, and security to joint Warfighters worldwide is at the heart of the Command’s mission.
