Sometimes referred to colloquially as a unit patch, the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia for the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) Operations Group is available in full-color (for wear on the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the discontinued Army Green
Uniform) and in either Operational Camouflage Pattern or Universal Camouflage Pattern for wear on the Army Combat Uniform. (Note: the wear-out date for Army Combat Uniforms with the Universal Camouflage Pattern is 30 September 2019.)
Authorized for the JRTC in 1988, the insignia’s design emphasizes the joint aspect of the Center’s training mission (the unit was redesignated as the JRTC Operations Group in 1993). The bayonet stands for the strike capability and military readiness the JRTC helps units achieve, while the wings represents both the mobility and speed of joint operations and the United States Air Force.
The three primary colors of Blue, Yellow, and Red are the branch colors of Infantry, Armor, and Artillery respectively, again emphasizing the combined-arms aspects of JRTC. The archway-style design of the patch symbolizes the entrance into the halls of learning and education in joint operations that is provided by the JRTC Operations Group.
