U.S. Navy and Coast Guard Lieutenants wear two stripes made of gold lacing. Both stripes are a half-inch in width and encircle the whole sleeve, with the lower stripe positioned so that its bottom is two inches from the end of the sleeve; the other half-inch stripe is placed a quarter-inch above it.
Customers purchasing this Lieutenant (junior grade) sleeve lacing for a new uniform should strongly consider adding our Lacing and Sleeve Device Sewing Service when adding the jacket to their shopping cart. Our jackets ship with unfinished sleeves because hemming to a standard length means they will not properly fit the vast majority of our customers because of differences in arm length. With our Lacing and Sleeve Device Sewing Service, on the other hand, you simply provide us the inseam length of a jacket that fits you well, and we’ll place both the stripes and the Officer’s devices in the precise locations called for by regulations. An added benefit is that your jacket will arrive ready to wear (except for the placement of medal or ribbon racks).
