Services stripes are issued by United States Marine Corps to enlisted personnel for wear on he Blue Dress and Service uniform coats, with each stripe reflecting four years of honorable service in one (or a combination) of the Uniformed services or in the National Guard or a Reserve component of one of the five branches of the Armed Forces of the United States (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard). The four-year period reflects cumulative rather than continuous service, although Reservists can earn credit only for full years.
Use the two selection boxes to the right to specify the appropriate size and color of the insignia you need (gold on red is for the Blue Dress coat, green on red is for the Green Service coat). Stripes are sewn on at 30-degree angles to the bottom of coat sleeves, with the lowermost point of the stripe meeting the scarlet piping on the cuff of
the Blue Dress coat. On
the Men's and
Women's Green coat the bottom edge of the service stripe is centered 1/2-inch above the stitched cuff point.
Subsequent stripes are placed parallel to lower stripes with an eighth of an inch spacing between them. This set of three services stripes is authorized for wear by enlisted Marines who have accumulated 12 to 15 years of honorable service.
