The Marine Corps authorizes enlisted personnel to wear a service stripe on both sleeves of the Blue Dress and Service uniform coats for every four years of Federal service they have accumulated. Service is not limited to time spent in the Marine Corps, but rather includes Active and Reserve duty in the Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, Army and Air Force; some service in the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service and U.S. National Geodetic Survey (a component of the NOAA). Only an enlisted Marine with 28 to 31 years of Federal service could be authorized to wear this seven-stripe set.
Use the selection boxes to the right to specify the appropriate size (large for males, small for female) and colors of the stripes. For Blue Dress coats, gold stripes on a red background are used and the stripes are tilted to a 30-degree angle in relation to the bottom the sleeve before the lowermost scarlet point meets the point of the cuff piping. Green stripes on a gold background are worn on the Green Service coat, similarly tilted to a 30-degree angle and then placed so that the bottom scarlet edge is centered 1/2” above the stitched cuff point.
